Who is Claude Sauvageau?


1.  Jean Sauvageau (son of Jacques Sauvageau and Renée Copyeau).  He was married to Madeleine Ouvray in Marcay, Chinon, Touraine, France.  Jean Sauvageau and Madeleine Ouvré had the following children:

 +2 i. Claude Sauvageau.

2.  Claude Sauvageau was born about 1646 in Marcay, Chinon, Touraine, France.  He died about 1716 in Grondines, Portneuf, QC. He was married to Jeanne Legendre (daughter of Isaac Legendre and Claude Lentonne) on 3 Dec 1669 in Cap-de-la-Madeleine, Champlain, QC.  Jeanne Legendre was born about 1636 in St-Denis-lès-Rabais, Meaux, Champagne, France.  She died on 1 Mar 1714 in Grondines, Portneuf, QC.  Claude Sauvageau and Jeanne Legendre had the following children:

 +3 i. Jacques Sauvageau.
 +4 ii. Marie Sauvageau.
 +5 iii. Alexis Sauvageau.

3.  Jacques Sauvageau. He was married to Thérèse Martineau (daughter of Jacques Martineau and Antoinette Dumoustier) on 30 Nov 1704 in Grondines, Portneuf, QC.

4.  Marie Sauvageau. She was married to Louis Meran about 1688.

5.  Alexis Sauvageau was born about 1671.  He died on 20 Feb 1749 in Grondines, Portneuf, QC. He was married to Marie-Marguerite Massé (daughter of Martin Massé and Thérèse David) on 19 Apr 1694 in Grondines, Portneuf, QC.  Marie-Marguerite Massé was born on 14 May 1679 in Trois-Rivières, Trois-Rivières, QC.  She died on 24 Dec 1744 in Grondines, Portneuf, QC.  Alexis Sauvageau and Marie-Marguerite Massé had the following children:

 +6 i. Joseph Sauvageau.
 +7 ii. Alexis-Augustin Sauvageau.
 +8 iii. Marie-Thérèse Sauvageau.
 +9 iv. Jacques Sauvageau.
 +10 v. Bonaventure Sauvageau.
 +11 vi. Alexis Sauvageau.
 +12 vii. Marguerite Sauvageau.
 +13 viii. Louis Sauvageau.
Claude Sauvageau is my seventh great-grandfather via Alexis and Alexis-Augustin. My grandmother was Marie-Louise Sauvageau born 1891 in Grondines, QC and married to Joseph Baril. View my connection to Claude Sauvageau

His descendants? What if you are one?

Claude's descendants by now must number in the 500,000 (312 by my estimate). Of these, about 4,000 (212) are descendants with the last name of Sauvageau (and variations). I did a search on the Library and Archives Canada using their tool called AMICUS and found 18 listings summarized in two pdf files. I received a similar list when I browsed the Bibliothèque Nationale du Québec. If you live in Canada or have friends there, you may be able to get access to these books via a local library.
